Smithsonian Travelling Waterways Exhibit (March 2, 2019)

The Local Learning Community Foundation helped to stimulate awareness and interest in the Smithsonian Institution History of Waterways interactive learning exhibit that was housed at the Tennessee Tombigbee Transportation Waterway Museum in Columbus, Mississippi on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Water/Ways is a traveling exhibit offered by the Museum on Main Street division of the Smithsonian Institution. The exhibit included five free-standing display units incorporating photographs and text as well as numerous interactives ranging from basic flip charts to state-of-the-art audio and video devices.  Displays focused on the role of water in terms of religion, emergence of settlements or townships, shipping with barges, lock and dam systems, and food and nutrition.   The L2CF offered door prizes to help attract students and families to the exhibit, and Mr. Orlancio Trainer (SHS Senior and MBKC Representative) received the grand door prize.
