Marjada Faith Tucker

Marjada Faith Tucker is a Junior at Rice University (Houston, TX) studying Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She is a native of Starkville, MS and was reared in the Blackjack Community. Marjada is an alumna of The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the MSMS Hall of Fame. Marjada is proud to have been named a Ronald H. Brown Scholar, Jack Kent Cooke Scholar, Bill & Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar, Questbridge National College Match Finalist & College Prep Scholar, Philanthropic Educational Opportunity Star Recipient, and a Tom Joyner Full Ride Finalist; she was offered more than 1.5 million dollars in scholarships, grants, and awards. At Rice, Marjada is actively involved with the Minority Recruitment Committee, Black Student Association and Baptist Student Ministry. She also serves in various positions of leadership including Orientation Week Advising, First Generation Mentorship, and peer tutoring. Marjada plans to attend medical school and pursue of career in rural medicine in Mississippi.  She also plans to establish a foundation for Mississippi youth with primary focuses on intensive STEM training, college readiness, and better preparedness to contend for highly selective colleges, universities and scholarships.
