Dr. Tommy Stevenson is the Founder and CEO of Stevenson & Associates Consulting Group LLC. Prior to beginning his consulting career, Stevenson served as Special Assistant to the Provost and Executive Vice-President and special projects coordinator for the College of Arts & Sciences. He began his academic career at Mississippi State University in the fall of 1987. While attending Mississippi State University, he majored in Industrial Technology in the College of Education and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. After a brief stint in industry, he returned to Mississippi State University in 1994 as an Admissions Counselor in the Division of Student Affairs. During his tenure as an admissions counselor, he played an integral part in the recruitment and retention efforts of students of color at the university. Dr. Stevenson earned his Master of Science in Education Administration at MSU and continued his educational pursuit at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH, and earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration. He returned to Mississippi State University in 2002 where he has held leadership positions within the Bagley College of Engineering and Dr. Stevenson has served as the Director of Diversity and Equity Programs for the university and as well as the Chief Diversity Officer and Director of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion. Under his leadership, MSU has developed the Women and Men of Color Summits to support the university’s efforts in retaining and graduating students of color. At the national level, Dr. Stevenson has served as the President of the National Association of Multi-Cultural Engineering Program Advocates (NAMEPA) and the secretary and treasurer of the Minority Division of the American Association of Engineering Education (ASEE). On a local level, he has served on several boards: American Red Cross, Project Assets, Renasant Bank Community Board, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle. He is also one of the founding members of the Starkville Toastmasters Inc. He has received numerous awards for his service included but not limited to National Role Model Administrator Recruiter Award and the Mississippi State University Lambda Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Legend Award.
