Many students can improve their learning and test-taking capacity by investing greater time and effort in their pursuit of proficiency in reading and mathematics. The L2CF partnered with Ms. Smith Education Services to provide after-school homework assistance, tutoring, and character development programs. The goal of the collaboration was to help underserved and under-performing area students gain access to research-based student success initiatives and protocols, primarily in reading and mathematics. Prospective applicants were screened in terms of both financial and academic needs. The L2CF awarded tuition assistance to six (6) applicants at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. A review of final grades revealed that an overwhelming majority of the sponsored students recorded significant gains in terms of their grade point averages and scores on statewide growth tests.
