Summer Mega College Tour
To increase deserving and underrepresented students' exposure to college life and to motivate them to pursue post-secondary degrees, the L2CF in collaboration with the Mississippi State University (MSU) Council on Minority Affairs and board members, sponsored the 2018 Summer Mega College Tour that took place on June 24-June 26, 2018. Through a rigorous application and screening process, ten (10) area future scholars, grades 9th -12th were awarded travel scholarships. The learning exploration included tours of Morehouse College, Spelman, Clark Atlanta, and Emory University. Participants engaged in an array of sessions including the following: 1) Informal small group sessions with college students; 2) briefings regarding academic programs; 3) seminars on admissions and financial aid; and 4) tours of residential, academic and research facilities. Based on post-tour evaluations, the students’ interest in pursuing post-secondary degrees were increased, and they voiced interest in possibly visiting other colleges and universities
